Replacing MgO
Magnesium oxide(MgO) is a key ingredient in electric heaters. It is responsible for electrically insulating internal components of an electric heater. However, it has a tendency to absorb water. Therefore, heater manufacturers bake out the heaters in order to remove moisture before sealing them. This bake out process adds significant lead time to the heater manufacturing process and also requires large bake out ovens to be installed and operated.
We have partnered with Klaw Industries, a maker of a material processed from discarded glass to find an alternative for MgO. Currently we are in the process of making multiple electric heater prototypes with this patent pending material in order to prove it can be a replacement for MgO. If you would like to know more about this project, or would like to partner with us, please contact us. Thank you!
